Max Jenke Takes 25k as BDC Young Entrepreneur Runner Up

Max Jenke was recently in the running for the BDC Young Entrepreneur Competition hosted by the Business Development Bank of Canada. The contest is designed to honor remarkable young Canadian entrepreneurs with growing businesses.
Jenke entered the contest, which was awarded based on online voting and had a grand prize of $100, 000, showcasing his work with Endeavor, Airhole, and Colour Wear, and implemented a serious social media push to get fans to vote for him. When all was said and done, Jenke came away in a strong second earning $25,000 for his efforts and his brands.
We caught up with Jenke to learn more about how they’ll be using this money as well as his social media strategy for taking home the prize.
You were pushing this contest everywhere with some great social media pushes. Tell us about some of the things you did to promote the BDC contest?

It was definitely a crash course in social media. We were going hard on three fronts; Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. It was interesting to see how different images and text went viral – something we will be using in our future campaigns. Coming up with 20 days of pushing hard was definitely challenging, especially feeling like we were spamming everyone.

You said if you won you’d use the money to increase distribution in the U.S. – what are your plans for the near term for this cash?

We’re still focussed on the U.S. market. With the BDC’s help, we have $25,000 of consulting that we will use to review our strategy and hopefully get some ideas from an outsider’s perspective. It’s always interesting to see what the business world thinks of our industry – it usually comes as a shock to them that we work on such a crazy buy/sell cycle and face the seasonal and snow-dependant challenges that we have every single year.

To everyone who voted for us and snowboarding, we salute you!

We’re excited to say that Max Jenke is the Young Entrepreneur for British Columbia and runner up for the Young Entrepreneur Award for Canada. Out of 350+ applicants across Canada, it’s an amazing accomplishment and one that we are proud of. Thank you to everyone who supported us and the Endeavor Design brands: Endeavor Snowboards, Airhole Facemasks, and Colour Wear. It’s humbling to see the feed clogged with our campaign being shared worldwide. Always Endeavor. #votesnowboarding

Episode Three of the Life in Focus Mini Series takes us to Vancouver Canada where get to spend a few days talking about photography and snowboarding, and get the even greater opportunity to tag along on an assignment with the one, and only, Scott Serfas. Scott is truly a global powerhouse in the world of snowboard and action sport photography. We get to hear about the circumstances that set Scott up for a career as a pro, and also how those circumstances ultimately took him to a place where he would become part of the team that has built one of the hottest brands on snow – Endeavor Snowboards.
Click here to Vote! Thank you. REACHING NEW HEIGHTS Max Jenke’s Endeavor Design in Vancouver has made its mark in...

Click here to Vote! Thank you.

REACHING NEW HEIGHTS

Max Jenke’s Endeavor Design in Vancouver has made its mark in the sports world with snowboarding-themed products that reach some 30 countries. Designing and bringing snowboards and facemasks to market for direct sales in North America and distribution abroad, he’s now also licensing a Swedish line of outerwear and sees great potential for all three of his brands in the U.S.

To maintain the company’s profitability, ensure continued growth and make further inroads in the promising market to the south, Max has identified what’s required: strong time management, the right sales team and an effective marketing plan. With an investment in systems and marketing, he will speed up his progress in all these areas as he prepares to take Endeavor to the next level. “As a Canadian group with roots in snowboarding, we understand what our customers want,” says Max. “A strategy that will capture more of the U.S. market will act as a global sales catalyst that will propel us forward with more growth.”

PERFECT TIMING

“Our mantra is ‘the best product at the right time and the right price,’” he adds. “Our three brands represent innovative cool products of good quality, endorsed by professional athletes and sold internationally. The time is right for Endeavor Design to gain a stronger foothold in the U.S. with our three great brands.”

VOTE TO HELP ENDEAVOR GAIN TRACTION IN THE U.S.

“As a group of former pro riders who live the snowboarding lifestyle, we’ve built a business with a solid reputation. Now, we want to ride high in the U.S by maximizing our full potential,” concludes Max. “We need Canada’s help to gain that extra edge. Vote to give Endeavor the support that will take us beyond our boundaries!”

Check out Cam Pierce @3:48…Doubling it up.

Wednesday may be Hump Day, but here at Mt. Bachelor, the riders of Superpark 17 presented by Gatorade weren’t dragging their heels at all on Day 3. They were throwing down. The Woodward rail feature continued to have new lines exposed by snowboarding’s most talented jibbers, and the plethora of transition options built by Woodward, Loon Mountain, Seven Springs, and Mt. Bachelor saw plenty of epic action. Superpark 17: The Webcast went down on Seven Springs’s massive channel hip. Austen Sweetin, Hans and Nils Mindnich, Dylan Alito, Kim-Rune Hansen, Sam Taxwood, Annie Boulanger, and more were hucking themselves over the gap. Roope Tonteri stomped the double back rodeo right after the webcast ended, but luckily we have the footage in the Day 3 video. Check it out and log onto snowboardermag.com at 1:30pm – 4:30pm to watch the last Superpark 17 webcast on the Woodward jib plaza.

The Isen7 crew are in Austria along with Simon Gruber and Mario Käppeli for a late season shred.

The fourth instalment in Isen7′s online web series takes us to Flachauwinkl’s Absolut Park where Swiss shredder and part-time clown Mario Käppeli is joined by Simon Gruber and Flo Corzelius.

After hitting the kicker a few times and a solid rail session, the boys get bored and try their hand at snow scootering, to disastrous effect.
