Weather ruled the weekend and the second stop of The Canadian Shield Slopestyle Tour. 90cm or approximately 35 inches of snow fell at Mt Seymour on Saturday at a rate of 7 cm an hour. The steady and heavy snowfall resulted in the postponement of The Canadian Shield’s snowboard slopestyle competition to the following day. Riders were able to enjoy an epic POW day, which for most made up for the lack of a competition. Sunday morning welcomed riders with a socked in mountain instead of precipitation. Luckily the fog lifted in time for the rescheduled start of the snowboard slopestyle event.

Visibility was awesome in the am…

Due to the postponed competition being moved to the event day typically dedicated to skiing, a slightly modified contest format was decided on in order to accommodate both disciplines. The Pro Open categories were given a best of three runs format and the amateur divisions had best of two.

Jenna Blasman captured the win and $2000 in the pro women’s division with her third run of three that included a 50-50 to Boardslide followed by a Backside 3 Tail to Frontside 3. Endeavor’s Gillian Andrewshenko once again took home second place with a run consisting of a Boardslide to 50-50, a Backside 3 Indy followed by a Frontside 3. Brooke Voigt claimed the final podium spot in addition to the sbcwomen.com Standout Trick award for a gap to Backside 5-0 on the kink rail. Her third place run included a 50-50 to Boardslide, followed by a Frontside 3 to Backside 180.
